Throughout the day,  there were several productive discussions, speeches, and networking opportunities for BMA members who attended the event.  From a merchant safety training for storefront merchants, to a contractor panel discussion with representatives from local development firms, to an end-of-day merchant visioning exercise that solicited members’ input on new projects and activities to be undertaken by the BMA, there was something at the retreat for everyone.  Here are some photos recapping some of the retreat’s sessions:

Bayview-Hunters Point’s 2010 National Night Out Against Crime Coming in August!

The 2010 National Night Out (NNO) Against Crime celebration is coming to the Bayview on August 3rd, 2010, from 4pm – 8pm at the Mendell Plaza (Third Street and Oakdale Avenue).

NNO event coordinators are expecting between 500 – 1000 event attendees this year, who will enjoy live music from Mazacote and the Reed Fromer Band (among others), family-oriented games and activities, and the comedic stylings of Donald Lacy, all while celebrating safety and diversity in the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood.

For those unfamiliar, National Night Out is a community-driven, nationwide effort to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

For more information on the event, please contact James Moore, the new Third Street Corridor Manager and National Night Out event coordinator at (415) 647-3728 x411 or at jmoore@rencenter.org.
