Turner School of Construction Management Offering FREE Training Program this Fall

The second annual Turner School of Construction Management training program is scheduled to commence September 14th at the South Beach Harbor facility. The cost of the program is FREE for accepted applicants.  If you are interested in attending, please see the attached brochure for details.

About the Turner School of Construction Management:

Turner is deeply committed to programs that support and expand the social, economic and educational growth of the community.  We believe our responsibilities go beyond the business of “bricks and mortar”. Our construction management training program began in Cleveland, Ohio in 1969, and is offered annually across the country to minority-owned, women-owned, and small emerging businesses. It is uniquely designed to enhance the technical, business, and administration skills of the participants in order to make a profi t and build a reputation for effi ciently managing construction projects.  Individuals enrolled in the program gain insights and meaningful tools that help them target their business for quality and growth while, at the same time, develop new strategic business relationships.  In addition to the opportunity to take a course at NO COST, each participant will receive the following benefits:

  • Instruction by industry experts – Turner key staff and/or industry experts members instruct all of the classes.
  • A “Certification of Achievement” signed by program sponsors for successfully completing the program (presented at a graduation ceremony).
  • A “Class Program Book” which includes a compilation of profi les for all the participating companies and letters of congratulations from program sponsors. This book is used as a networking tool among the participants and is sent to major construction companies, public agencies, and community-based organizations.
  • A wealth of information that is outlined in the course syllabus.
  • Six weeks of networking opportunities with other program participants and key Turner staff.
  • Recognition and credibility with other industry leaders for having completed the program.
  • Describe necessary elements for being a contractor and Identify challenges of being a contractor
  • Describe fundamentals of estimating and effective methods for locating, obtaining, managing, and scheduling work
  • Understand key concepts of contract management.
  • As a bonus, you will also receive over 1,000 hours web-based learning courses free that includes: How to Read and Analyze Financial Statements; Insurance and Bonding for Subcontractors; Beginning/Intermediate/Advanced Word; Beginning/Intermediate/Advanced Excel. In addition, an OSHA 30 Hour course, the bulk of which can be taken online, will be offered at a discounted rate.

Minority-owned, women-owned, and small emerging businesses that are general contractors, specialty contractors, construction managers, construction consultants, and other companies that work closely with construction firms.
